YAN OI TONG TIN KA PING KINDERGARTEN was founded in 1988 as the only kindergarten of the late Dr. Tin Ka Ping was school SUPERVISOR. Our school follows Dr. Tin’s legacy: China’s hope lies in Education, dedicating our efforts to nurture the future pillars of society.
We are located on the terrace of a large housing estate near Siu Hong station. It is a prime learning environment, with a peaceful environment, fresh air, and quiet indoor and outdoor space.
Yan Oi Tong’s founding mission is to “place students as our core, to place students as our priority”. We value character education, respecting students ‘individuality and treasuring their strengths. We work to help our students explore their potential and unleash their hidden strengths. Our efforts have also been recognized by the International Enlightenment Education Alliance as they have awarded us with the Invitational Education Fidelity Award.
Our school places focus on student’ biliteracy and trilingual skills. We have hire professional English, Putonghua, and NET teachers to create a rich language environment for our student through fun games, songs, and more.
We have stable and professional team of teacher and social worker with good professional qualifications, passion for teaching, love for children, and immense dedication to their work. All our staff members have attained a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. And as we are a full-day school, we are able to have 40% more staff than other kindergartens. With this, we are able to maintain an ideal teacher-student ratio, allowing us to provide the best care for our students.
In the 2018/19 school year, the School-based Support (Kindergarten) Section had given our teachers a one-year professional training programme on Learning through Free Play. And from the 2019/20 to 2020/21 school year, our school has attained around $386,100 from the Quality Education Fund for our “Outside the Classroom – Love & Life” Scheme, to add new equipment and professional development opportunities. In the 2020/2021 school year, the Education Bureau is also providing On-site Professional Support Services for our school. We are working together on the “Nurture Students’ Exploring Spirit (Nature and Life)” project for lesson preparation, lesson observation, and lesson assessment. In the 2023/2024 school year, our school also received a grant of HK$100,000 from the Quality Education Fund to launch the “Move, Hear, and Music” project to improve the quality of teaching and help children gain rich sensory experiences, open their minds, and expand their learning abilities.
A child is born a curious being. Through teachers’ encouragement, this curiosity buds and grows. Learning with their peers allows students to be equipped with skills in self-discipline, decision-making, self-directed learning, problem-solving, and creativity. We anticipate these skills to be of utmost importance in helping our children navigate the rapidly changing and developing society.
School and the home are the parts of society children first experience. We are honored to have such supportive and trusting parents as our ally as we work together to nurture our children and create a better future for them all.
